As a contributing editor at four electronic newsletters published by SmartBrief, I cover the aviation industry for more than 150,000 readers every day. After writing more than 7,000 industry summaries, I recognized a major hole in the way air travel is covered and analyzed. All Alliance News aims to fill that hole with reliable, insightful coverage of the three global airline partnerships that dominate travel today.

Politically, I believe alliances are good for consumers, because they help bring stability to an inherently unstable business. If you expect to find posts about conspiracy theories and monopolistic tendencies, you’re looking in the wrong place.

Personally, I’m a passionate traveler who’s visited all 50 states and more than 40 foreign countries. But I’m not partial to any one alliance: In my travels I make it a point to spread my business among different airlines in different alliances — plus the occasional independent carrier. That may not be good for my elite status, but I think it is good for my objectivity.
